BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills
The BSc (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills course will enable students to build upon and further their knowledge gained from study at Level 4 and 5, whilst supporting them to continue to develop their skills as counsellors. The course supports students to develop their research skills, whilst exploring contemporary developments within the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
The BSc (Hons) top up provides a bespoke opportunity to have an enhanced Counselling and Psychotherapeutic skills qualification, where students have the opportunity to explore and reflect on their current practices. Gain in-depth knowledge and advances on further counselling modalities including expressive therapies and CBT, as well as managing their own research project in their own area of interest, contributing to the wider research of Counselling and Psychotherapy as a whole.

Who will teach me?
Neil Dickson – Course Leader
Neil runs his own private counselling practice, working with clients from a variety of backgrounds, and presenting a wide range of issues. He specialises in working with clients who have experienced trauma.
Neil has proven results across thirteen years of educational practice, and has extensive experience of teaching Counselling from level 2 to level 6.
Neil is a member of the BACP, and regularly updates his own practice and learning through a variety of specialist courses and CPD events.
Jimmy Petruziello – Counselling Lecturer
Jimmy has a vast amount of experience in education and working in therapy and coaching, also practicing as a hypnotherapist.
Jimmy is also an author, radio broadcaster, and has worked and works in football for over 20 years. Jimmy is also the Co-Chair elect for the North West England BPS (British Psychological Society), and editor for BPS North of England Bulletin. Jimmy was a nominated candidate for the BPS President-Elect’s role in 2022 elections.
